New Hiders, "Penny Harvest Field"

One of my favorite releases of 2006 was The Hiders' Valentine, an album of stark, post-Neil Young country-rock beauty.

Well, the Hiders are back with album #2, Penny Harvest Field. And now they're not only defined as "former member of the Ass Ponies" (Bill Alletzhauser), but also "former members of the Ass Ponies and the Afghan Whigs", as Whigs bassist Michael Horrigan has come on board as a full-time member of the band.

The album is available now via Shake It Records, and I just ordered myself a copy. What I've heard so far is excellent, and seems like a fuller, more varied and more upbeat sound than Valentine. Here's a couple tracks:

The Hiders, "I Still Do"
The Hiders, "You're Going"

The band only has a few Cincinnati-area shows scheduled right now, but hopefully we'll see them on the road before too long.

Hiders Tour Dates
Sat., 6/14: Northside Tavern (Cincinnati)
Fri., 6/20: Southgate House w/ Scout Niblett (Newport, KY)
Sat., 6/28: Northside Tavern w/ Samantha Crain & the Midnight Shivers (Cincinnati)
Fri., 8/22: Fountain Square Indy Summer w/ The Sweep (Cincinnati)
