Margot and the Nuclear So & Sos Hitting DC

I'm still in New York and am borrowing a friend's computer, so I haven't had a chance to upload my pictures from last night's REM and National show (I sat near the bar for the entirety of Modest Mouse's set, and it's the best thing I've done in years). Fantastic sets by both bands.

But I just noticed some interesting news about Margot and the Nuclear So & Sos over on the Paste website.

First, as the title of this post suggests, the band is playing the 9:30 Club (seriously?) on August 13th. They also have a bunch of other dates throughout August, which are listed below.

Second, and even better, is news that the band is releasing two albums on October 7th. As I've mentioned before, the band worked on songs for the new album, Animal!, over the course of more than a year. Then, when they finally finished the album, their new label, Epic, wasn't particularly happy with the tracklist the band had chosen.

Rather than fight it out, the band and Epic came to a compromise - they're releasing two albums, one called Animal! and one called Not Animal. Both albums will feature 12 songs, but only 5 songs will be found on both albums (meaning, of course, there are a total of 17 songs). Animal!, which I'm guessing is the band's preferred version of the album, will be a vinyl-only release. Not Animal, which I'm guessing is the label's preferred version, will be available in digital format and on CD. Both albums come out on 10/7.

Oh, and the band also has a Daytrotter session coming out on July 29th. Awesome.
