Another One Bites the Dust

Via Brooklyn Vegan and Idolator -- Harp Magazine is shutting down. The next issue, with Dave Grohl on the cover, will be its last.

Who's next to go?

Wow, does that ever suck. Really, really liked Harp. That Tweedy interview was one of the best I ever read, and it had a nice mix of alt country and indie rock that was pretty unique. Plus the great Fred Mills wrote for it.

I thought they might have a shot, as much of their advertising was musician-focused (guitar strings, touring rentals, that sort of thing), but guess the combined forces of postal rate hikes and label advertising basically disappearing killed them. Not a good time to be in the music magazine business (unless you happen to be Mojo, though even their parent company is now for sale).

If Magnet goes under, I might officially give up.
