Spinner Roundup
Another installment of "This Week in Spinner"... pretty good stuff this week.
Matt Costa, Unfamiliar Faces
Drive-By Truckers, Brighter Than Creation's Dark (excellent disc, but definitely a grower)
MGMT, Oracular Spectacular
The Whigs, Mission Control (fantastic as expected)
Steve Aoki, Pillowface & His Airplane Chronicles
Super Furry Animals, Hey Venus! (first half is great, second half boring)
In other news, I'm listening to the new Stephen Malkmus disc for the first time right now... it's better than Face the Truth, but that ain't sayin' much.
Edited to add: To be fair, "Gardenia" is a pretty solid track.
Edited to add further: That MGMT album is pretty damn good. Weird and experiment-y, but there's some solid songs in there. Check it out.

Yeah, that new Whigs record is pretty great and, I think, much better than their debut. Will see them for the first time in Philly on 2/2.
You didn't make the Whigs/Broken West show in Philly in November? You're in for a treat. And you're definitely catching them with me in Austin.
