Lollapajersey

As if it weren't hard enough already to decide each year between SXSW, Lollapalooza, ACL Fest, Bonnaroo, Noise Pop, Bumbershoot, Coachella and Moe. Down (I kid!), there is apparently a new entrant into the field of music festivals -- the Vineland Music Festival.

The new festival, which is being put together by the same folks behind Lollapalooza and ACL Fest, will take place in Vineland, New Jersey on the weekend of August 8-10, 2008 (the weekend right after Lollapalooza in Chicago, and about 5 weeks before ACL Fest in Austin). This is apparently their "fallback" plan after a year's worth of discussions about doing a festival in Philadelphia recently fell apart.

You can find more info on the festival here.

I still love visiting Chicago in the summer, so I may still lean towards Lollapalooza, but you gotta assume they're gonna pull out their big guns for the inaugural festival and that the Vineland lineup will be great. Plus, Festival Republic (the folks who book Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds) are involved in the show as well, so it's a good bet Vineland will get some top British acts as well (cough cough Radiohead). We'll see...

Edited to add: The press release for the festival claims that "[t]he festival will be held on a 550-acre private farm within an hour’s driving distance of New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.." Maybe I'm not too good at geography, but how exactly is that possible? Wouldn't that mean I could drive from D.C. to New York in 2 hours? That would rock.
