spinART R.I.P.

This is pretty old news, actually, but in case you missed it, former Staten Island-based spinART label has closed up shop. In its heydey, the label released and/or distributed albums by Frank Black, Apples in Stereo, Clem Snide (and leader Eef Barzelay), You Am I, Apollo Sunshine and Birdmonster. It will be missed.

Interestingly, CMJ.com is reporting that the UK-based One Little Indian imprint has acquired the rights to a number of spinART titles, and will be re-releasing many of them through Caroline in the coming months. Guess that's a bright spot in an otherwise unfortunate story.
