Eric Bachmann @ Maxwell's, Hoboken, NJ [7/21/07]

Skipped Siren Fest today to start working my way through Deathly Hollows. About 1/3 of the way through. So far, so good.

I did manage to catch a fantastic set by Eric Bachmann at Maxwell's tonight, though. I always forget just how good Eric is live. He played a mix of songs from his latest solo album, To The Races, as well as older Crooked Fingers songs, and "White Trash Heroes" by Eric's old band, Archers of Loaf. Interestingly, when someone in the crowd asked him to play something new, he responded that he doesn't have any new songs right now, but should in a month or two. Wonder if that means he's moving back into the van?

Notably, while the show didn't sell out, the approximately 70% full room was as lively a crowd as I've ever seen for Eric before. The crowd was downright rowdy (in a good way). It was clear that Eric and the band appreciated the support. I wish crowds were this enthusiastic at more indie shows.
