Birdmonster Triple Up on New York

In addition to the Mercury Lounge show I mentioned last week, it turns out Birdmonster is playing two more NY-area shows next month. To wit:

Wed., Sept. 6 - Maxwell's - Hoboken, NJ
Thurs., Sept. 7 - Mercury Lounge - New York, NY
Fri., Sept. 8 - (To Be Announced) - Brooklyn, NY

Brooklyn show should be announced soon. I may have to hit that one...

regarding some your recent recommendations:
Birdmonster - Yeah!
Silversun Pickups - Nah! - Am I the only one hearing the Smashing Pumpkins all over this thing? Too arena-rocky.

Glad you like Birdmonster. I definitely hear Pumpkins in Silversun Pickups, but it's a Gish-era Pumpkins, which is a good thing in my book.

I really like the SP album, though I will back off my earlier comment about it being possibly my favorite album of the year. There are 5-6 fantastic songs on their, a couple ok ones, and a couple I'll probably skip every time I listen to it.

Still a very good album, but not my favorite of the year.

Just heard the new Eric Bachmann, and while good, it won't be my favorite of the year either..

Have you heard new Thermals record, The Body, The Blood, The Machine? I always thought they were a cookie-cutter punk band, but this new record is great. Kinda like Ted Leo, but more agressive and rough around the edges.
