Awesome News, Lost Fans

Just saw this over at the L.A. Times -- the recently-settled writers' strike will not force the producers of Lost to deviate at all from their planned wrapup of the series.

If you'll remember, after last season, ABC picked up the show for three final seasons of 16 episodes each (i.e., 48 episodes total). At the time that the writers' strike started, only eight episodes had been filmed, and no one was sure what would happen to the season's remaining eight episodes. Would they be filmed and shown in the summer? Would they be shown in future seasons? Or would they simply be dropped?

Well, according to the article, 5 additional episodes will be filmed and aired for this season, and the remaining 3 episodes originally planned for this season will be aired in the future. In other words, no lost shows (pun not intended). Just a slightly re-configured way of telling the story.

Works for me.

Edited to add: There's a slightly better explanation over at Sledgeweb's Lost... Stuff. This season's overall story will now be told in 13 episodes instead of 16. So expect some slightly jarred storytelling at the end of the season. BUT, they do still plan to add 3 more episodes later. So expect those to be mainly filler. Oh well. I'll take what I can get.
